Hapy |
Hapy was one of the "Four Sons of Horus" who protected the organs of the deceased in canopy jars. His 3 brothers were: Qebehsennuf, Amsit and Duamentef and Hapy guarded the lungs.
The jars that originally were made of baked clay with stoppers of mud, were developed with time into stone sculptures showing the protectors themselves as the lids atop.
Hapy was shown in depictions as a babo- on-headed mummified human and some- times he was mentioned in funeral lite- rature also protecting the throne of Osiris.
He was under constant guidence by the goddess Nephthys. (Note: do not confuse him with the Nile god Hapi).
