Nephthys (in Greek) was a popular and often depicted goddess said to master magic, was attached to the mortuary cult and had the entire desert as her domain.
She was a part of the cult of god Min. Nut and Geb were her par- ents and she was sister to Isis and Osiris. She was married to her evil brother Set and they had the son Anubis. She was usually called upon by the name "the lady of the house". Mostly she wore a long dress and on her head stood the sun disk with a the hieroglyph for "castle" topped by a bowl. This last object could be alone on her head and makes it possible to single her out her from other goddesses in simi- lar clothing. She was a common motif for artists and very popular in the Greco-Roman period.
