Ritual Enclosures at Abydos
Dynasty 1   (~ 3.000 - 2.700 BC)

These brick enclosure walls were probably made for ritual purposes and some had remnants of building inside. They had side burials out-side just like the kings' tombs. In the 1990s twelve pits containing boats were found and probably contemporary. Djet's monument was the largest from the first dynasty. A similar construction (maybee from king Qa), and just as big as Djer's, is situated 150 meters to the north (right).
