The illusive Labyrinth
The area south of the pyramid was once the mortuary temple said to hold 42 halls, one for every province of Egypt here reconstructed in gray by English archaeologist Flindes Petrie based upon Greek historians. They also wrote about underground galleries to the local crocodile god Sobek, but these have not been found so far (year 2008).
