A new non-amphib light tank was developed i 1941 called T-60. It was a welded more protected version of the T-40. Over 6.000 were manufactured during two years and were used for infantry support and scouting. The turret was to the left with the engine mounted alongside it on the right and the driver placed centrally in the front. Like T-40 the turret had Swedish design used on the majority of contemporary Landsverk tanks. Better firepower was given when mounting a 7.62 mm machine gun. T-40 and T-60 tanks were designed for operating in snow. An improved model (A) had increased armour and solid pressed roadwheels. The model was replaced by the more powerful T-70 tanks. |
